Description: Can grow to about 4 feet tall. Growing in moist soil, winged loosestrife has lanceolate leaves and purple flowers. Winged loosestrife looks similar to purple loosestrife which is a non-native, invasive species. Winged loosestrife is beneficial to hummingbirds and pollinating insects. The plant provides good habitat for invertebrates, which are eaten by fish and waterfowl.
Chemical Control Options: Glyphosate will control it, but control usually is not needed.
Mechanical Control Options: Digging up plant and roots can be effective, but control usually is not needed.
